负责组织市政府雕塑专家顾问组和首都规划建设专家顾问组研究北京重点地区、重大题材城市雕塑项目的设计及实施过程中的有关问题，为市政府和首都规划委员会决策提供咨询意见。

　　负责北京城市雕塑建设的申报、审批、备案工作；组织协调大、中型城市雕塑的招、投标及艺术质量监审工作；负责全市城市雕塑设计、制作加工单位的资质审查；提供有关城市雕塑建设管理的咨询；建立良好的城市雕塑建设管理秩序。

　　建设“城市雕塑与公共艺术网站”；广泛开展国内外学术交流与合作；宣传 “城市雕塑”的成就，促进“公共艺术”概念的发展，繁荣北京国际化大都市的文化艺术。

　　近十年来，北京城市雕塑建设管理办公室积极推动中国北京的城市雕塑建设管理工作，在中国北京策划、组织了多次重大展览，如“新世纪的希望—城市雕塑设计方案展”、SARS病毒期间的“融入自然，共享空间、雕塑生命”主题系列雕塑展等，建设了大量的城市雕塑。还积极推动北京与世界各国文化艺术方面的交流与合作，为多个国家制作了雕塑2002年举办了中国北京国际城市雕塑艺术展，邀请了世界上数十个国家的著名艺术家来北京参加创作活动，并开辟了北京国际雕塑公园，收入所有作品，现有180多座。

　　与瑞典、希腊、韩国等国家互赠雕塑，推动中外文化艺术的往来。如仅在2004年收藏了瑞典雕塑大师卡尔米勒斯著名雕塑《人与飞马》、《天之娇子》，并赠送了韩国一件雕塑，并与希腊有城市雕塑方面的交流意向。

　　1999年，举办了，这是全国第一次城市雕塑设计方案展。

　　2001年，在北京王府井大街举办了中国第一次大型室外雕塑艺术展“新北京·新奥运—体育雕塑展”。同时举办了雕塑摄影竞赛，儿童绘画竞赛，公众评选“我喜爱的雕塑”活动。雕塑展览由美术馆走入室外空间，雕塑语言的文化内涵深植人心。展期长达60天，参观人数百万计。83件雕塑作品表达了祝愿北京申奥成功的心愿。展览在7月13日这个光辉荣耀的日子，圆满地划下句点。

　　2001年，在西单文化广场举办了“2001时空平台雕塑作品展”。市委领导参观展览，作了关于积极发展城市雕塑的重要讲话。

　　2002年，举办“中国北京·国际城市雕塑艺术展”。展出雕塑作品260件。同时举办了“半个世纪回顾—北京雕塑艺术文献展”。“童心 绿色 未来—全国少年儿童雕塑设计展”等一系列的展览活动。是迄今为止我国举办的规格最高、规模最大、形式最多样、内容最丰富的城市雕塑艺术活动。

　　2003年，在网上举办了绘画、书法、雕塑等综合艺术展。

　　2004年 举办“新中国第一代女雕塑家邀请展”，邀请新中国成立后的19位女雕塑家参展。

Beijing City Sculpture Construct and Supervise Office

Beijing City Sculpture Construct and Supervise Office (BCSCSO) was set up in the December of 1996. It is a division level,government supported unit, subordinate to Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning (BMCUP).

Major responsibilities of BCSCSO are as follows:

Declare, examine and put into record the Beijing city sculpture construction; Organize the bid for the creations of large and middle scale city sculptures and supervise them on their artistic qualities; investigate the qualifications of city sculpture units on sculpture design and manufacturing process; provide city sculpture construction management consultancy; build city sculpture construction management system;

Organize government sculpture expertise team and capital programming construction expertise team to research in sculpture construction matters happened in the process of designing and execution for Beijing Key Districts, key city sculpture programs; provide consultancy for city government and capital programming committee;

Make research and draw up rules and regulations for Beijing city sculpture construction management; make short and long term plans for Beijing city sculpture development and implement the Beijing city sculpture construction layout compendium;

Establish city sculpture and public art website; build up extensively national and international art exchange and cooperation; promote the achievements of city sculpture and enhance the development of the concepts of public art so as to popularize the culture and art in the metropolitan city of Beijing.
