China Beijing Olympic Park City Sculpture Designs Collection Announcement
Beijing Olympic Park is the core area where the 2008 Olympic Games will be held. To welcome the 29th Summer Olympics in 2008, to build the urban cultural landscape and to fully display the three ideas of Green Olympics, Sci-tech Olympics and People¨s Olympics, Beijing Planning Committee, entrusted by Beijing People¨s Municipal Government, now announce the collection of the Designs as follows:
A. Contents
1. Three Theme Commemorative Sculptures
1.1 Solidary Nation, Harmonious Society
To embody the great solidarity of Chinese nation, harmony of the society and 5000-year
civilization history of China; to be located in the Ming Zu Avenue in the north of middle-axis-line.
1.2 One World, One Dream
To embody the world peace, Olympic aims and a hundred-year dream; to be located near
Olympic Square.
1.3 Olympic Championship
To commemorate the champions and events of this Olympics; to be located near the National
Stadium.
2. Sculpting Dreams
Sculpting Dreams collects all kinds of creations and designs with the possible locations in
the Olympic Park, main stadiums and gymnasiums. There are several themes of creations
as follows:
(1) Olympic Badge: dancing Beijing
(2) National culture and Physical culture
(3) Fashionable culture, creative spirit
(4) Main stadiums and gymnasiums
There are National Stadium, National Natatorium, National Gymnasium, and Convention
Center in the Olympic Park, designs with the feature of which are welcomed.
B. Design Requirements
3. Principles
To embody the times features; with diversity of creative ideas, styles and forms; focusing on
the combination of Olympic concepts and urban environment, culture and art.
All sculptors, in spite of their age, nationality, can submit their designs.
4. Submitting Requirements
(1) There is no limit on style, form, material, measure or expressing methods but creative
design.
(2) Papery graphics designs or colorful effect picture are to be printed on and submitted with
A3 paper. The metric is signed with centimeter. To remind, all designs shall not be
mounted or bond or show the names or signs of designers¨. Diorama is not acceptable.
(3) One Electronic File: it shall be recorded on a CD (300 dpi), or sent through E-mail in which
case the memory volume of the attachment can not be larger than 2 M.
(4) Works Registration Form: to specify the designer¨s name and contact methods.
(5) Submitting Time and Address: the deadline is 18: 00, February 18, 2006(Saturday). All
designs shall be sent to Beijing City Sculpture Construction and Management Office --- City
Sculpture and Environment Facilities Design Collection Studio (Room 215, North Building,
No. 3, Nan Li Shi Lu Tou Tiao, Xicheng District, Beijing). All designs shall not be returned,
so the designers had better leave a copy with them.
C. Evaluation and Award
1. Evaluation Committee: made up of the experts from fields of urban planning, landscape engineering, art designing.
2. Evaluation Method: in the spirit of objectivity, fairness and justice, all designs shall be evaluated 10 days after received. 300 designs will be selected, 100 excellent ones out of which will be further processed into solid models and exhibited on another day.
3. Awarding Method: prizewinning works shall be issued the certificate, among which excellent ones will be awarded bonus and included into an album and exhibited. Bonus paid to local candidates shall be Chinese Yuan and to oversee candidates (include candidates from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau) shall be US dollar. The exchange rate between Chinese Yuan and US dollar will refer to the rate on the day getting the results from the panel.
D. Intellectual Property and Copyright
1. The host respects the design of designs'. The copyright of adopted designs belongs to the host, while the rights of promoting, exhibiting and recommending of unadopted designs belong to the host.
2. Designers have to promise that their designs shall not invade others¨ intellectual property (copyright, trademark right, and patent), otherwise all disputes, legal responsibilities, and loss thus occur shall be undertaken by the designers.
3. All participants shall be regard that they have agreed and accepted this announcement, needless to inform in writing.
4. All disputes up from this program shall be solved in Beijing with the application of related laws of People¨s Republic of China. Beijing Planning Committee holds the final explanation right towards this program.
